Mysore Pak

A delicious sweet from the house of Mysore, this treat is every bit of delightful. Here’s how you can make the rich Mysore Pak at home.

  • 1 cup besan
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 ½ cup ghee (clarified butter) melted and kept warm
  • 1 pinch of kesari food colour (optional)
  • 1 cup Madhur Sugar
  • A few saffron (Kesar) strands

For Garnishing

  • Some chopped almond slivers

  • Heat 2 tsp ghee/clarified butter in a pan and add besan.
  • Cook on a low flame till besan is roasted.
  • Cool and sieve the roasted besan to avoid any lumps.
  • Add ½ cup ghee to the besan and mix well.
  • Now take a pan and add Madhur Sugar to it. Add water to it and boil till it reaches a one-string consistency.
  • Add the besan mixture to the boiled sugar and stir continuously.
  • Next add ½ cup of ghee and keep stirring till the mixture thickens.
  • Once the mixture thickens, add the Kesari food colouring.
  • Cook till the mixture separates from the pan.
  • Transfer the mixture into a greased tray and let it settle for 5 minutes.
  • Finally sprinkle some chopped almond slivers on top of the mixture and cut it into pieces.
  • Serve soft and delicious Mysore Pak!
