Caramel Custard

Picture this - Creamy caramel over silky custard. Sounds heavenly, right? Here’s how you can make this classic melt-in-the-mouth French dessert at home.

  • ½ cup Madhur Sugar
  • Water 
  • ¾ cup milk
  • ¾ cup fresh whisked curd
  • ¾ cup condensed milk
  • 4 tbsp custard powder
  • ½ tsp vanilla essence

  • Add ¼ cup of Madhur Sugar and some water in a pan and cook it while continuously stirring it on a high flame.
  • Cook the sugar until it melts and its colour changes to brown.
  • Once the colour changes, pour it in 2 small serving bowls and leave it aside to set.
  • Take the custard powder in a big mixing bowl and pour milk over it. Mix well.
  • In another bowl, mix the curd, vanilla essence and remaining sugar. Whisk all this well.
  • Add condensed milk to this mixture and stir it well.
  • Now combine the custard mixture to the curd mixture and whisk well.
  • Pour the mixture into the serving bowls.
  • Preheat 3 to 4 cups of water in a deep pan.
  • Once the water boils, place the serving bowls in the deep pan.
  • Cover the lid and let it cook for 20 minutes.
  • Turn off the flame and remove the serving bowls from the pan.
  • Cool and refrigerate the serving bowls till they are chilled.
  • Unmould the custard and serve!
